Showing up for Orange County
Sanhoti is a cultural organisation, but a community that only celebrates itself is not much of a community. A part of what we do each year goes outward — to two Orange County organisations doing work that matters, close to home.

What we do
Two local beneficiaries
Laura's House for survivors of domestic violence, and Second Harvest for hunger relief. Both serve Orange County and nowhere else.
Families, not just donors
Children come to the walks and the drives. Turning up for a cause is learned by doing it.
An annual walk
Sanhoti fields a team each year for the Walk with Second Harvest at Tanaka Farms in Irvine.
Drives and collections
Goods and funds collected at our own events, handed to the organisations that distribute them.
Corporate matching
Many Orange County employers match employee donations. It is the cheapest way to double a gift.
Open to anyone
No membership, no prior involvement, no connection to anyone at Sanhoti required.

Who we work with
Our partners

Laura's House
Orange County, California
Laura's House provides emergency shelter, counselling, legal advocacy and prevention education for survivors of domestic violence in Orange County. It is one of the few organisations in the county offering that full range of support under one roof.
What Sanhoti does
Sanhoti has organised charity events in support of Laura’s House in both 2025 and 2026 — raising funds, collecting goods, and giving our community a direct, local way to help. It is the partnership we have sustained longest.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County
Irvine, California
Second Harvest is the largest hunger-relief organisation in Orange County, distributing food to hundreds of thousands of county residents each month through a network of partner agencies and its own farm at Tanaka Farms.
What Sanhoti does
Sanhoti fields a team each year for the Walk with Second Harvest, the annual community fundraising walk at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. Families walk together, and the money raised goes directly to food-insecurity relief for Orange County households.

Three things we hold to
Local, not symbolic
Both organisations we support serve Orange County specifically. The money and hours go to people who live where we live.
Families take part together
Our charity events are designed so children come along. Turning up for a cause is learned by doing it, not by being told about it.
Open to anyone
You do not need to be a member, Bengali, or connected to anyone at Sanhoti to join a walk or a drive. Just come.

Three ways to help
Give
Sanhoti is a registered non-profit and donations are tax-deductible. Many Orange County employers will match what you give — it is worth asking yours, because it is the cheapest way to double a donation.
Walk or volunteer
Drives and walks need people on the day: setting up, carrying, signing others in, walking alongside. No experience and no membership required, and children are welcome at all of it.
Bring your company
Corporate matching, sponsorship of a drive, or a team entered into the walk. Companies looking for local community involvement in Orange County are exactly who these events are easiest for.
Questions
Before you come
- Do I have to be a member to join a charity event?
- No. Sanhoti charity events are open to anyone in Orange County. Most people who walk with us are not members, and several are not connected to the association at all.
- Are donations to Sanhoti tax-deductible?
- Yes. Sanhoti is a registered non-profit and donations are tax-deductible. Membership dues are not — those are two different things and it matters at tax time.
- Where does the money actually go?
- Funds raised at a charity event go to that event's named beneficiary — Laura's House or Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Both serve Orange County specifically.
- Can children take part?
- Yes, and they are meant to. The walks and drives are built so families do them together rather than parents attending on their own.
