Sanhoti celebrated Kali Puja 2025 at the Hindu temple on Autry in Irvine, Orange County — an evening of ritual, prasad and culture on the night Bengalis worship Goddess Kali.

Kali Puja falls on the new-moon night of Kartik, the same night as Diwali. Where much of India lights lamps for Lakshmi, Bengal turns to Ma Kali, and the puja is performed at night with its own distinct liturgy. It is one of the most atmospheric observances in the Bengali calendar.

The evening included the full puja and anjali conducted by a priest, prasad served to everyone present, and a cultural programme of songs and recitation by Sanhoti members. Families joined from Irvine, Tustin, Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo and across Orange County.

Sanhoti also observes Phalaharini Kali Pujo in the spring — a second, quieter Kali observance rooted in the devotion of Sri Ramakrishna.
