Sanhoti celebrated Saraswati Puja 2026 at Davis Magnet School in Costa Mesa, Orange County — a spring morning devoted to the goddess of knowledge, music and the arts.
Saraswati Puja, also called Vasant Panchami, is the day Bengali families place books, instruments and pens at the feet of the goddess and ask for learning and creativity in the year ahead. The Sanhoti celebration followed the full tradition: pushpanjali offered together by everyone present, and haathe khori for our youngest children — the ceremony in which a child writes their first letters under the priest's guidance, marking the beginning of their education.
Both lunch and dinner were served, and the cultural programme featured recitation, Rabindra Sangeet and dance performed by community members of every age — alongside a boshey aanko sit-and-draw session for the children and the Sanhoti General Body Meeting.
Yellow is traditionally worn on Basant Panchami, and the hall was full of it. Families joined from Costa Mesa, Irvine, Tustin, Rancho Santa Margarita and across Orange County.
