Sanhoti Durgotsav 2026 comes to Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa on 9–11 October — three days of Durga Puja in the heart of Orange County, and our largest celebration yet.
Durga Puja is the great homecoming of the Bengali year: the days when Ma Durga returns to her maternal home and an entire community organises itself around welcoming her. Sanhoti observes the full traditional sequence — Bodhon and Shashthi, Saptami, Ashtami with Pushpanjali and Sandhi Puja, Navami, and Dashami with Sindoor Khela and Bijoya greetings — with a priest conducting the rituals in full.
Around the puja runs everything that makes Durgotsav more than a religious observance. Two evenings of live concerts at the Robert B. Moore Theater on campus: Subhadeep Das Chowdhury, runner-up of Indian Idol season 14, on Friday 9 October, and Bollywood playback singer Akriti Kakar on Saturday 10 October. Cultural programmes performed by Sanhoti's own children and adults. Bhog served after Pushpanjali each day, and evening food stalls with Bengali street food and sweets.
Orange Coast College sits minutes from Irvine, Newport Beach, Santa Ana and Huntington Beach, with ample parking on campus. Families travel to Sanhoti Durgotsav from across Southern California, and everyone is welcome regardless of background or faith.
